We all agree that dogs enjoy eating meat. However, dogs can't survive on a pure meat diet and need access to other whole foods to remain healthy and fit. If you've ever eaten a meal with your dogs by your side, or with their noses in your plate, you are well aware that your dogs want to eat all types of foods. This is because dogs are opportunistic eaters – they are physiologically designed to get their nutrition from whatever food sources they might come across, including grains, fruits, and vegetables.
These non-meat foods are a source of carbohydrates, fiber, and micronutrients. Micronutrients are nutrients that are needed in small amounts, such as vitamins, minerals, and other essential elements. Even though most commercial-grade and even gourmet dog foods are loaded with a variety of vitamins and minerals, they may be missing other important vitamins, minerals, and micronutrients. Your dogs’ need for these micronutrients drives them to look for plant sources which contain these required elements. This is most likely one reason that your dogs love to eat grass and other green plants. The grasses contain small amounts of nutrients that your pets crave. Unfortunately, most dogs vomit the coarse grass long before they receive any nutritional benefit from it. Additionally, most grass is heavily treated with pesticides and fertilizers that are harmful to pets.
So, your dogs want, and need, greens in their diet. They tell you this by grazing in your backyard. But the grass is basically indigestible and loaded with toxins. So what do you do? How do you supply the micronutrients found in green plants that your dogs crave and need? As a small animal veterinarian, I am asked questions like these all the time. That is why I was so impressed when Dog-Wa was submitted to me for a professional review.
As you can see from the Dog-Wa website, Dog-Wa is a concentrated liquid food that supplies necessary plant-based nutrients. It is made from cold pressed extracts of two wonderful greens, parsley and peppermint. Parsley and peppermint aid digestion, soothe the stomach, freshen the breath, and discourage gas, and together they supply Vitamins C and A, along with antioxidants and other micronutrients to promote health, vitality, and overall wellness. These characteristics make Dog-Wa is an effective support for healthy dog digestion.
Most dog foods today are highly processed, cooked foods that achieve their nutrient quotas by adding vitamins and minerals. Basically, they are meats, grains, and a vitamin pill. We all know that it is far better to obtain nutrients from minimally processed foods. Dog-Wa achieves this by taking cold-pressed, natural extracts and adding them to purified water. There are no stems or leaves to worry about, but only highly available nutrients in an easily digested, liquid form.
In a day and age when our pets’ foods are heavily processed, it is a relief to find a food product that meets your dogs’ needs by providing the natural benefits of whole foods. Dog-Wa can provide the additional support your dogs need to be healthy for years to come. Dog-Wa is an excellent complement no matter which dog food you choose. It adds in the green plant-based nutrients that your dogs seek, supporting the nutrients from grains and meats already offered in commercial dog foods. Whether you feed your dog canned, dry, raw, or cooked foods, Dog-Wa is the perfect companion.
